FTP Instructions

These instructions are written for Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7 or 8.
The steps outlined below may easily be adapted to other versions of Windows and/or Internet Explorer.

If you are still on Contour’s Contacts/Quotes page, you will find a link to our FTP site under the FTP heading.
If you are not, you can access the FTP site by typing in the address ftp://ftp.contour-plastics.com.

If you are a new or potential customer and are uploading files, login with the following credentials:
Username: salesftp
Password: cpsales

If you are an existing customer, your contact at Contour will have supplied you with a unique username and password to use here.

Once you are logged in, you will see a page entitled “FTP root at ftp.contour-plastics.com”.
You will now need to click the large “Page” button in the upper right, and then click “Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer”.

You will again be asked to enter a username and password; this is the same information as before.

A window should pop up that is simliar to any file/folder window you have used in the past, such as My Computer, My Documents, etc.
With this window open, you can drag and drop your file(s) onto it to start the transfer. You can also copy and paste the file(s) if you would like.

There will be a progress window visible as the files are transfering.*

If you are using the salesftp username, the site will be "blind" to you.
This means you will not be able to see any files on the FTP site, including your own after transfering them.
You must rely on the progress window to know if the files were transfered successfully.

*Note: Transfer times may vary depending on file size, your Internet connection speed, congestion, etc.

It is best if you zip up your files before you send them through FTP.
See Microsoft Article KB306531 for instructions on zipping files.
